Deliveries: Grower Truck and Fed Ex: Though we can and do ship Fed Ex, we prefer to ship by way of grower truck. We pool orders to make delivery routes. We have bi- weekly routes through most of New England, Eastern New York, Northern New Jersey and parts of Eastern Pennsylvania. We call the week before delivery and let our customers know when and how the delivery is coming. If there is not enough freight to justify a truck, or if an order is too far off the route, we may ship Fed Ex. This is determined on a case-by-case basis. |
Deliveries are made in large trucks or by tractor-trailers. Generally the product is unboxed, in trays, on carts. We feel it our responsibility to safely get our products to the edge of truck tailgate; however, it is your responsibility to get the product safely into your greenhouses. Please let us know when placing your order if you cannot accommodate these large vehicles. Also, during inclement weather, sometimes it is not possible to get the truck close enough to the greenhouse to safely unload the truck. In such cases, often the product needs to be boxed to protect it from the cold in transit from the truck into the greenhouse. If either of these conditions is true, possible additional charges may apply. Questions? Ask |
Pickups are on Wednesdays 8 AM until 3 PM, by appointment only. |
Boxing and Freight Charges: |
Freight Charges shipping thru Fed Ex: All Fed Ex shipments are boxed. Costs are added to the invoice. Freight charges are based on the DIM weight of the box, not by how many trays are in it. It is best to fill boxes. All COD shipments must be paid in advance. Freight charges will be billed at the current rate at the time of shipping. Please ask if you have questions about this. |
Freight Charges for grower truck deliveries: |
Our published freight charges are based on our costs the summer of 2009. A fuel surcharge may be added dependent on the changing fuel cost between summer of 2009 and the time of delivery, based on average prices as reported by the DOE’s Energy Information Website for New England. Please ask about this when placing your order. |
